Saturday 16 September 2006. Chester Social.

The Cheshires have invited us to hold our next Committee meeting at their Regimental Club, which is in The Castle (Regimental Headquarters) at Chester, on Saturday 16 September 2006. The Cheshires are due to become 1st Battalion the Mercian Regiment (Cheshire) in August and have offered us full use of their facilities.

The venue is perfect for holding our next planning meeting during the afternoon and then to continue with the social in the evening.

Message from Association chairman

As many of you may be aware, the Association's Committee holds regular regional meetings to discuss and plan the biannual Reunions. They are relaxed and very enjoyable, and the washup afterwards always goes on until the early hours of the next morning! We always welcome non-Committee members to these occasions but in the past have been guilty of not publicising the details far enough in advance for many to attend.

I would therefore like to draw your attention to our next meeting which will be held in Chester on Saturday 16th September and invite you to join us. It is somewhat special because this time we will be the guests of our affiliated regiment the Cheshires and they have given us use of their excellent Club facilities in Chester Castle.

The day starts at 12.30 with the Committee meeting (optional to non-members), breaking late afternoon and then recommencing early evening with an informal social. There is a small charge of £20/head for paid-up Association members and £25 for non-members (includes 12 months membership fee). This will cover sandwiches for the meeting and a full buffet in the evening, where there will be staff and naturally a fully equipped cash bar!

Most of the Committee team are staying at the Holiday Inn (Wrexham Rd, Chester South) which can be booked by following this link and selecting Chester South - www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/925/en/home

If you are interested in joining us for the meeting / night or for both, please could you let Ian Thoburn (Membership Secretary) know and send him your £20 / £25 cheque. His email address is Ianthoburn@aol.com.

Cheques should be made payable to the “Ambuscade Association" and addressed to Ian Thoburn, 4 Kimberley Close, Thorpe Audlin, Pontefract WF8 3ER. Once you have registered your interest with Ian, I will forward more details and keep you updated.

We are hoping to get the next edition of the “Pistol Post” out in the next few weeks, reporting on the last and next reunions and all things Ambuscade. If you have anything you would like to include please feel free to drop us a line and we would be happy to make room!

I do hope you are able to join us for our next meeting at Chester and of course for next year's reunion which will be in Crewe 19 May 2007. If you have any queries or comments, or don't wish to receive emails please contact me and I will be happy to assist.

With best wishes,

Mark Brocklehurst
